Training Officers Committee
Minutes of the Meeting
June 2, 2006
Members present: Steve Wells, Roger Dingman, Kevin
Jennings, Pat McNulty,
Mike Ciancio and Frank Maurice
1. Program; Steve Wells introduced Pat McNulty as our web
designer. Steve reminded all present that pat was here to
discuss additional possibilities to the website so that it will
be used more often. Pat discussed a data base for the
instructors. Mike C. will send out a questionnaire to all
instructors to get their information and approved courses that
each can teach. Pat also discussed online training
opportunities, news specific to the Fire Service like
“Firefighter close calls” etc. Mike Asked if a bulletin Board /
Chat room could be added for open discussions. Steve asked if
the Fire Chiefs minutes from their meetings have been forwarded
to pat. Pat said as of yet that no they have not, Steve will
make another attempt at getting them posted on the website.
2. Group discussion on possible having FETN subscription
for the entire county. Discussed ways to fund this thru grants
etc. Also discussed send a flyer to all fire depts...
Encouraging more participation in the website.
3. ROP- Mike relayed message from Nona Olsen that she is
not leaving Mendocino County ROP and also that instructors need
to have all blue sheets in by June 30th.
4. Academy- Discussion on how to deal with students who
fail portions of the academy. This is most specific with those
who do not finish or fail the Hazmat FRO class. Most of the
other subjects are not a pass or fail. If we have students who
fail the class the Instructors need to contact the academy
coordinator to arrange a make-up for them if possible. This was
considered to be a lack of communication in the academy and a
suggestion was made to have a meeting with all instructors prior
to the academy starting in 2007.
5. Treasures report – was not available because those
documents go to the County Fire Chiefs Treasure. Also a final
total on the academy was not done.
6. Propane Drill- Very successful 68 in Fort Bragg and
35-40 in Ukiah. Steve W. will write a thank you to WPGA for the
training from this organization. Also discussed was what type of
training does the association wants to host for the upcoming
year. Suggestions were another WMD drill, Trench rescue, USAR,
Confined space operations etc. The training officers will
attempt to host financially one county wide training opportunity
per year. Suggestions should be forwarded to Steve Wells.
7. Next Meeting September 8th 2006 at Ukiah City. Lunch
will be provided.
Meeting adjourned,
Respectfully submitted by Mike Ciancio
